With a brand new year comes new resolutions, and this year, we want you to set resolutions that you can keep up with. Rather than focus on the past and things that can’t be changed, we want you to look ahead to the future and set new goals for yourself.
Three-Word Resolutions
Many people set resolutions for themselves that are very broad, and that they never end up keeping up with. This year, we challenge you to stick with three-word resolutions. This exercise challenges you to choose three words, no more, no less, which you will use to guide you through the coming year. Think about challenges you will face, what ideas you want to embody, and how you want to interact with the world around you. Think of it as a personal mantra to follow throughout the entire year.
Build Positive Habits
Along with trying a three-word resolution, we challenge you to include a few habits you want to adopt in the new year. Make these habits a positive force in your life, and something you can keep up with every day. If you need a few ideas, we’ve got you covered:
- Start Keeping a Journal: Starting a journal to record your daily experiences, ideas, and inspirations allows you to hold on to your ideas and use them more effectively in the future. Using a journal can also help you keep track of your research, health, and productivity throughout the year. No matter what your occupation is, keeping a journal and writing everyday can help reduce stress and increase your productivity.
- Add Healthy Routines to Your Day: Whether you’re concerned about specific health problems, and want to focus on bettering those, or just want to get back into better physical shape, adding a few different healthy routines to your day can really change things up. For those of you that want to start small, you could try some back and abdomen exercises to improve posture, make a chart to help you drink more water during the day, or you could start meal planning to help you stay on budget.
- Take Time for Yourself: Your well being needs to always be top priority, which is why it’s so important to always take time to yourself. Whether you need tips on how to avoid burnout, have too much going on and want to learn how to prioritize, or want to try a new hobby, there are many ways you can take time for yourself and improve your well being.
