On October 23rd, Pink Ribbons took part in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Liberty Bowl in Memphis. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk supports the American Cancer Society in working to create a world free from the pain and suffering caused by breast cancer. Not only is this an occasion of hope but also a shared determination to make this breast cancer’s last century.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation. Participants walk to raise funds that are critical in enabling American Cancer Society to fund innovative research, provide free information and support to anyone touched by breast cancer. Additionally, American Cancer Society also helps people reduce their breast cancer risk by finding it early when it’s most treatable.
The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk of Memphis that took place in October was a success! Thank you to all who participated in the noncompetitive 3-5 mile walks to help raise funds. These funds will go towards groundbreaking breast cancer research, life-saving education and critical patient services. Memphis was able to raise over $170,000 in this event with the participation of 279 teams. Congratulations to Neal Patel, winner of the 48-hour challenge and FREE pizza for a year from Old Venice Pizza Company. Additionally, congrats to Shannon Cook, winner of the 72-hour challenge.
