Dealing with the emotional toll of chemotherapy and hair loss can be challenging, especially on top of everything you’ve already been through. Wigs can be used as a great coping mechanism and way to get out of the “cancer patient mentality.” Create some confidence and boost your mood! Being happy is the best medicine.
Details To Consider Before Choosing A Wig
Before purchasing a wig, put your lifestyle, budget, hair style and head measurement into perspective. Don’t purchase anything that you don’t feel comfortable in!
- Lifestyle: Before the big purchase, look at various aspects of your lifestyle. For example, keep your budget and daily routine in mind. Your budget will narrow down the options and your daily lifestyle will help the decision process. Choose a wig you will want to wear everyday and that accents your lifestyle. The construction and weight of the wig will differ per style and type of hair, so before you buy, consider your natural hairstyle or what you feel most comfortable in. Comfort is key!
- Hair Style: Take note of your current hairstyle, maybe even take a picture! If you want to match your current hair color to your wig, cut a lock of hair off for future reference. Natural lighting will show the lighter strands of your hair, making it easier to match the wig color.
- Measurements: Measure the length of your hair when it’s either wet or slicked down, especially if you want to match the length. Consider an adjustable wig as your head may be smaller without hair.
